Q. What is Web Hosting?

Q. Does HostFusion offer dial-up Internet access?
A. No. We do not offer Internet access. We are a full service web hosting company.
Q. Does HostFusion provide web design services?
A. As a web hosting company, we provide the connection for your website to be accessed by the Internet. We do not design websites, create music files, create databases or program web pages. We welcome your requests for help, but please understand that our highest priority goes to making sure our servers and network infrastructure are working properly.
Q. How long after I sign-up will I be able to upload my web pages?
A. As soon as you receive your welcome email with your username, password, IP address and control panel login details you will be able to start uploading your website.
Q. Will I have unlimited access to edit my site?
A. Yes. You can edit your site 24-hours a day via your control panel or through your FTP software. We do not put any restrictions on FTP usage.
Q. Are there any special tools required to use your service?
A. If you are viewing this web page then you have all the tools you need to get you started. A computer, Internet connection and web browser.
Q. Do you place advertisements on my site?
A. Absolutely not. We provide a premium web hosting service and will not place any pop-up ads, banners, etc… on your website.
Q. Can I track how many people visit my website?
A. Each hosting account comes with three powerful website statistics tools that are accessible from your control panel which include Analog, Awstats and Webalizer.
Q. Do you provide a guarantee?
A. Yes. If for any reason during the first 30 days, you are not completely satisfied with our service, we will refund your money. No questions asked! The money-back guarantee applies to the monthly fee associated with your account. It does not apply to the setup fee, domain registration fees or any charges associated with the purchase of supplemental services.
Q. Do you provide 24-hour technical support?
A. Yes. We provide free 24/7/365 technical support via telephone and our email ticket support system.

Q. What platform do your servers run on?
A. Our Dell PowerEdge servers are driven by the Apache Web Server running over a customized version of RedHat Linux.
Q. Will I have access to Microsoft FrontPage extensions?
A. Yes. We support all versions of Microsoft FrontPage.
Q. Will I have my own CGI-BIN or will I use a shared bin?
A. Each hosting account has its own CGI-BIN for keeping your scripts organized and personalized.
Q. Will users be able to access my site without the www.?
A. Yes. You will be able to access your site without entering "www." into your browser.
Q. Do you offer any database solutions?
A. We offer MySQL which can be easily setup and managed using the MySQL administration tools located in your control panel.
Q. Do you support PHP and Perl scripts?
A. Yes our servers support PHP and Perl scripts to help you make your website more dynamic.
Q. Do you offer Telnet access?
A. We offer a secure version of Telnet (SSH) which provides the same functionality but in a more secure environment.
Q. What backup policy is employed?
A. We provide daily backups of website and database files on all servers, a daily incremental backup and a weekly full backup. In the event of a catastrophic data loss we can quickly restore your site (which is never more than 24 hours old) to working order with minimal data loss.
Q. Do you provide guaranteed uptime?
A. Yes. We guarantee that our network will be available 99.9% of any full month. Network uptime includes functioning of all network infrastructure including routers, switches and cabling.
Q. What is the best way to make a local backup of my site?
A. We recommend creating compressed archives of the data you need rather than FTPing each individual file to your system. The problem with using FTP is that it will not preserve the file permissions/ownership and will not always distinguish properly whether the file is binary or ASCII. You can access the backup tool in your control panel.
Q. Do you perform software upgrades on my server?
A. We continually update software applications and server modules so you and your end-users can use the most secure and recent stable versions available. We hope these new additions and upgrades continue to help grow your business, as well as provide the necessary security and functionality for your customers.
Q. What are the server paths?
A. Here are the server paths:
Path to Perl: /usr/bin/perl
Path to Sendmail: /usr/sbin/sendmail
Absolute path to HTML directory: /home/usr/public_html
Example: with yourdomain.com and username: john, the path would be:
/home/john/public_html
Q. Will I have full root access to the server?
A. No. You will only have SSH/FTP access to your own user directory.

Domain Names
Q. Do I need a domain name?
A. Just like a street address, a domain name (or website address) is what keeps your website distinct from the millions of other sites on the World Wide Web. A domain name gives your website a professional appearance and makes it easy to remember for potential visitors. You may want to use a commercial domain name (.com) or any country specific domain, (.co.uk, .es, .de etc...). A domain name is essential so that your visitors can find your site and so you can easily identify your brand.
Q. Does HostFusion support international domains?
A. Yes. We support all domain name extensions including all country specific domains (.co.uk, .es, .de, etc…)
Q. Do you provide domain name parking?
A. Yes. We provide domain name parking at no extra charge.
Q. What is a "parked" domain name?
A. Parked domains are aliases of other domains. For example, if you had the domain olddomain.com and parked it on your other domain - newdomain.com all traffic gong to olddomain.com would automatically be sent to newdomain.com.
Q. If I cancel my account will the domain name fees be refunded?
A. No. All domain registration fees are non-refundable.
Q. Can I change my domain name once it has been registered?
A. No. You are not able to "un-register" a domain name once the registration process is complete.
Q. How do I renew my domain name?
A. If you registered your domain with HostFusion, you can renew your domain name by logging into your account through our site.
Q. How do I change my domain name information?
A. If you registered your domain with HostFusion, you will be able to edit your domain name information by logging into our domain registration site. If your domain was registered elsewhere you will need to go to the domain registrar website to change your domain name information.
Q. How do I change the DNS information for my domain?
A. If you registered your domain with HostFusion, you can change your domain DNS info by logging in to the Domain Manager here. If your domain was registered elsewhere you will need to go to the domain registrar website to change your DNS information.

Q. Can I access email through a web browser?
A. Yes. You can access your email through your browser or by logging into your control panel at our homepage here
Q. Can I send email from my domain name?
A. Yes - This service is called SMTP server, and every HostFusion account supports this. Many hosting companies do not offer SMTP, even with plans costing 2-3 times as much.

Q. What types of payment do you accept?
A. We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diner's Club and JCB. We also accept payments via PayPal, Bank Transfer and Check.
